Technology is an important part of our daily lives. It’s what helps us throughout our days, and keeps us connected. Technology includes a small part of all subjects studied within the educational system, but is directly related to Math & Science. New York State has directly linked them together within the Learning Standards for Math, Science and Technology. You can view the standards by clicking here.

Although these standards cover the connections and importance of technology in a student’s education, here are some common questions / concerns about how technology courses are a pivotal experience for students in schools.
Why study technology?
Technology is changing the natural environment to satisfy our needs and wants. People have always found ways to improve others lives. Whether it be cars to make travel easier, refrigerators to help food last longer, or the internet to allow people to communicate easier. Technology is the one subject area that a student uses every single day of their life, whether they know it or not. Although technology is not a perfect field, and it is not one that once we accomplish something, we call it a day. Technology can always be improved, and in order to do that students must study the human made world as it is today, become technology literate, and be able to solve problems. Technology courses provide this and many more skills students need to succeed.
