Technology is not a major subject; my student does not need it.
In the case of high school you are correct. Students in high school are not required to take technology it is an elective, however in middle school, yes there is no state test, however technology is required. Students are required to take the equivalent of 1 year of technology courses and pass them, or they can not move onto high school.
Technology is an elective (in high school), such courses will just interfere with my students studies in subject areas that have regents.
Technology incorporates all subject areas, and will again help build a solid foundation for a student’s academic success. Students do like technology courses because they are hands on, and are considered more “fun” than learning. However against popular belief of students technology is incorporating skills that the students learn from other areas of study, and by constantly using these tools students will be able to accomplish a higher level of success in those areas.
